Frequently Asked Questions

  • Naturopathic doctors are licensed primary care physicians trained in both conventional medical sciences and natural therapeutics. At 2nd Nature, we practice full-scope medicine; we diagnose, treat, order and interpret labs, prescribe medications, and refer to specialists when appropriate— while also drawing on modalities that conventional medicine rarely has time for: hormone optimization, targeted nutrition, botanical medicine, regenerative therapies, and more.

The difference isn't what we're licensed to do. It's the depth and individualization with which we do it.

  • How do I book an appointment? New patients can book directly through our Patient Portal. If you'd like to get a feel for whether 2nd Nature is the right fit before committing to a full visit, we offer a complimentary 15-minute introductory call. Otherwise, you're welcome to go straight to a 60-minute telehealth consultation to get started.

Do you offer virtual consultations? Yes. Select services and most follow-up appointments are available via telemedicine. If you're unsure whether your specific needs can be addressed virtually, reach out and we'll help you figure out the right format.

What is your cancellation policy? We ask for at least 48 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Because our appointment slots are reserved specifically for you, late cancellations and missed appointments may incur a fee.

  • Our providers work with a range of specialty and conventional labs to give you the most clinically relevant picture of your health. For routine blood work, we primarily use LabCorp and Quest Diagnostics, which are in-network with many major insurance carriers, and thus you can expect to receive insurance coverage for blood work.

Because each lab has its own billing practices and every insurance plan is different, we can't guarantee how your insurer will process claims for specific tests. What you pay out-of-pocket depends on your individual policy — including how your plan applies deductibles, copays, and any exclusions.

Please also note that specimens collected in our clinic may carry additional fees for handling, processing, or shipping. These are separate from what the lab charges to analyze the test itself. If you have questions about the cost of a specific panel, we recommend contacting the laboratory directly. If they need clinical details to assist you, you're welcome to have them reach out to us on your behalf.

  • What types of treatments do you offer? We specialize in Women's Health and Hormone Therapy, Regenerative Aesthetics and Orthopedics, and Chronic Illness and Environmental Medicine, among other areas.

How do I know which treatment is right for me? You don't have to come in knowing. During your initial consultation, we'll assess your history, goals, and current concerns, and build a treatment plan around what you actually need, not a standard protocol.

Do you offer memberships or packages? Yes. We currently offer packages for a number of our aesthetic services. Ask your provider or contact us for details.

  • Do you accept insurance? 2nd Nature operates as a direct-pay practice. We don't bill insurance, which means our clinical decisions aren't shaped by coverage restrictions, pre-authorization requirements, or billing codes designed for a different model of care.

The tradeoff is real: you pay directly for your visits, and the care you receive is designed entirely around you.

Can I still use my insurance? In many cases, yes — partially. As an out-of-network provider, we can provide you with a superbill after each visit. A superbill is an itemized receipt that includes the diagnostic and procedure codes your insurance company needs to process a claim. You submit it directly to your insurer, and depending on your plan's out-of-network benefits, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement.

Whether you receive reimbursement, and how much, depends entirely on your individual plan. We recommend calling the member services number on the back of your insurance card and asking specifically about your out-of-network medical benefits before your first visit. This gives you a realistic picture upfront.

What about lab work? Lab billing is handled separately from your visit. Directly between you and the laboratory. For routine panels, we primarily use LabCorp and Quest Diagnostics, which are both in-network with many major carriers. Specialty labs bill independently and may or may not be covered under your plan. See the Testing section above for more detail.

Can I use my HSA or FSA? Yes. We accept HSA and FSA cards, along with all major credit cards and bank transfers.

What payment options do you have? We accept all major credit cards, HSA/FSA cards, and bank transfers. For select treatments and packages, flexible payment options may be available— inquire with our team for details.

  • Where is 2nd Nature located?
We are a naturopathic clinic located in the heart of Madison Park, Seattle. Our address and directions can be found here.

    Is 2nd Nature ADA accessible?
At this time, our space is not fully ADA accessible. However, we are committed to ensuring that all patients receive the care they need. If you require accommodations, please reach out to us, and we will work with you to find the best solution.

What should I expect at my first visit?  Your first visit is designed to be thorough, not rushed. The length and format will be determined during your initial consultation, but the goal is consistent: to understand your full health picture, identify what's actually driving your symptoms, and begin building a care plan that's genuinely tailored to you — not adapted from a standard template.

    Is there parking available?
Yes, street parking is available nearby.

  • We regularly work with patients who are based outside of Washington State. Care is provided in accordance with state licensure laws and may include virtual consultations, care planning, and education.

When appropriate, in-person visits in Washington are required for certain services, and treatment recommendations may be coordinated with a patient’s local licensed provider. Our team will review your location and care goals to determine what services are available to you.

If you’re unsure whether your care can be initiated virtually, we encourage you to reach out prior to booking.
